Our Core Curiculum

Our curriculum is rooted in the Early Years Foundation Stage, providing children with a strong foundation for learning and development. We recognise that every child is unique, so our approach is entirely child-centred. We use the Development Matters framework alongside ongoing observations to ensure each child is supported at their own pace.

At the heart of our programme is music. We weave rhythm, singing, and creative arts into daily life, using these as powerful tools for language development, emotional expression, and social interaction. By prioritising meaningful play and discovery, we create an environment where children feel secure and inspired to learn.

Extracurricular Enrichment

We believe early childhood should be filled with variety. Beyond our core activities, all children participate in a weekly programme of specialised experiences at no extra cost. From French and drama to ballet and gymnastics, these sessions help nurture confidence, coordination, and self-expression.

Our teachers help children develop new skills, taking part in annual performances where we celebrate their creativity and growth. These collaborative moments build lasting confidence and allow our children to share their progress with families and the wider nursery community.

Community & Exploration

Learning at RIMU extends far beyond our classrooms. We make the most of our location in London, taking regular trips to local landmarks like the National Maritime Museum and Greenwich Theatre. These real-world experiences help children connect with their community, while our frequent trips to parks and green spaces ensure plenty of nature-based learning.

We also bring the world to our doorstep by welcoming community heroes including firefighters, nurses, and storytellers into our settings. Through these workshops and outings, we spark curiosity, build respect, and help children understand the world around them through hands-on discovery.
